Lullaby.

I thank God for eyes.  For it is with them that I saw you...

Head full of dark wavy hair.

Perfect button nose.

Pretty eyebrows.

Dark lashes.

Plump cheeks.

Full bottom lip.

10 chubby fingers and toes.

7lbs 6oz of... Perfection.

I said my hello and goodbye in the same breath.  I thanked God because I didn't think I could breathe when I saw you... It was during that moment I was reminded how miraculous life is.

God baby was never mine.  She was GOD's baby all along.

Until I see you again, sweet angel, I pray that you rest comfortably in the arms of loved ones who have gone on... I've added you to the list of souls I must see when I get there.

I wanted you before you were born.  I loved you before I met you.  I finally saw you and, although I will never be able to see you again, you have touched my heart.  Forever.

Up and Up

She wore daddy's slippers to dinner last night.  My life.

Did you see this post's title?

Up and Up.  Yep, I'm on it.

I'm not at 100% but atleast the cold sweats, the random runny nose and the snoring (I think) have stopped.  My kitchen is clean, my hardwood floors are clean and I'm working my way through the rest of the house.  I may not move as fast as I normally would but mama is moving and I can see the fear in the eyes of my manly and mini room mates, lol.

On top of cleaning, I have a LOT to do for Munch's birthday party.  O and did I tell you Hubbs has decided to get in on the party planning fun?

No?!

Well, this guy purchased a Groupon.  Yes, a Groupon.  For what, you ask? A pony.  Yes, a pony.  He is so excited and thought his phone call to announce "it's going to make a GREAT blog post!" would make me equally as excited.

Negative.
Although I guess it's kinda cute he wants to surprise Munch for her birthday.

I am working the logistics in my head (dolls, bakery and now a pony at this small party in our small home. UGH, sounds like a train wreck) but I will keep you posted on the updated plan.  This week, however, I NEED TO:

- Make cutlery paper packets
- Finalize the tablescape layout
- Order last minute supplies
- Finalize decor

OMG! The birthday party is upon us and I need to get as much done as possible this week so I can decorate most of next week.  Wish me luck!

Cleaning - check
Planning - check
Making lists - check
Rockin' the hair in a bun -  CHECK!

I might not be 100% but I thank God for sick days; they make me appreciate my well ones!

My family, however, better get ready for the bleach butt kickin' I'm about to have around this house; payback is upon them.

I hope that you're motivated to get things done and that you'll come back to see some of our party projects!

Happy (a pony?! Who does that?) Wednesday!

Don't You Hate When...

By now you know I'm a wife and a mom...  Someone who has a family to feed, a house to clean, a job to report to and what not...  Well, I'm sick and it's times like these that make me HATE having the aforementioned responsibilities.  What mom gets a sick day?  Why can't I call out for a day?  Just. One. Day.

Let me apologize in advance for what you are about to see.  I just need an e-listening ear because my walls are so tired of listening that the paint started packing its bags(and we can't have that.  Who else will cover the crayon scribbles from '08?).

DON'T YOU HATE - The Sick Edition.

- When you get sick and it's ABSOLUTELY gorgeous outside?  I was so upset that it was sunny with a breeze on Saturday

- When ON TOP of being sick your husband gets on your nerves (seriously, dude. Just leave me alone right now... I don't want to play)

- When your husband leaves you alone and all you want is for him to bother you (where ARE you? I NEED YOU right now. UGH.)

- When you take medicine for said sickness and get the best sleep of your life ONLY to have your family complain that you're snoring

- When you wake yourself up because you're snoring so loudly (I thought someone was breaking in... what the-- O, it's just me... Again)

- When you walk through the door and your home smells like sick breath

- When your family takes advantage of you being sick and does not clean ANYTHING as if to kick you when you're down (what are you doing? You must pour each sip in a different cup.  NO? Why else is EVERY cup in this house dirty?)

- When your kid looks at you like you're crazy and says, "I know why you're breathing like that.  It's because you're sick."

- When you close your mouth and hold your breath to NOT breathe like "that"

- When you think you're starting to feel better so you actually get dressed and comb your hair...

...Only to have someone say, "o GOSH you look AWFUL!"  Really?  Mama actually feels CUTE, lol!

...
This list could go on and on... I'm just over my dirty house, my sassy kid, my disgusted husband, my boogies, my hacking... EVERYTHING.

Have I mentioned that I have no time to be sick? We have a birthday party in less than 2 weeks and I feel SO behind.

Please pray for me!

Ruffle Backdrop Tutorial

Hi, Islanders!  I shared this tutorial over at The NY Melrose Family blog a while back and wanted to be SURE you guys didn't miss it!

Remember the Photo Booth at God Baby's shower?

Of course you do!

Here's how you make one of your own:
Supplies

- Tissue Paper
-Ruler
- Wrapping Paper
- Scissors
- Marker
- Hot Glue/Gun

Step-by-Steps

1. Measure your wall and cut your wrapping paper to its required length/width.

2. Place the paper flat on the ground.  I used whatever I had on hand to keep it from curling (painters' tape and a gum ball machine, don't judge!):

3.  Open the pack of tissue paper.  Do not unfold it completely(it's easier to cut in step 5).

4.  From the bottom, use the ruler to divide the tissue paper into 3" strips:

5.  Cut your strips.

6.  You're ready to GLUE!  Place a short line of glue onto the top (or bottom) of your wrapping paper.

7. Start with the end of a tissue paper strip.  Center the strip on the glue.  Use your finger to apply pressure and gently slide the paper towards the tissue paper starting point.  This will create a "smooshed/creased/crinkled/ruffled" look:

8.  Continue gluing from left to right of the wrapping
paper until it is covered with fabulous ruffles:

Repeat, repeat, repeat.  Seriously, this project will take some time, however, feel free to shrink it for close-up shots only (poster board size maybe?).

When the paper is covered, snap your fingers, do a happy dance, pat yourself on the -- you get the point, YOU'RE ALL DONE!  When I finished, Munch instinctively struck a pose (or 10) for the camera:

Special thanks to Jenny for the opportunity to share and to all of you for taking the time to read!  We're saving the backdrop for photos with god baby when she comes home... I think it'll be lots of fun!

Cheers to celebrating!
