The Frugal Decorator
I realized in our discussion yesterday that half of my craft room decor is sentimental decor, the other half is thrifty decor.

Decorating With Love
I shared the craft room reveal a few weeks ago.
If you haven't seen the full reveal, you can check out more here. Today, I just want to share some detail images and talk about how I pulled this room together using things I love.
We've spoken about the thrifty dress form and how I made a base using an old floor lamp here. We didn't, however, talk about its purpose in the craft room.

Thrifty Thursday: A New Mirror
Howdy, Islander!
I'll get right to it. I have a thrifty secret. I've got another place I go to purchase items at a discount and it's in my local area. I also am pretty certain there is a place in your area specifically designed for you to enjoy fabulous finds on a frugalista's budget too.
Facebook.
Yep. Facebook. Would you believe there are more than 20 pages dedicated to yard sales, bartering, sales, mommy swap pages, local thrift stores and MORE in MY area. I have purchased a few items and during my scrolling on one yard sale page today, I saw an item that caught my eye.
A mirror. Now, I didn't know where it would hang but I knew I wanted it and its $10 price wasn't going to turn me away!
I arrived, paid and went on my merry way. Nuke hates when we leave but, when we returned with the mirror, he seemed to forgive me.

Frugal Friday - Spring Around Our Place
Did you see the guest room #2 update this past Wednesday? No?! Well, here's the image from our WW post this week:
I took that photo two months ago because I was amazed at how I planned the space design and pulled the design together buying only things I loved; it's really coming together wonderfully! The bottom coral fabric is the bed linen... a pillowcase I pulled from the bedding package. I love the reversible design but I'm debating on a cream down comforter with the quilt folded under or at the foot of the bed. I really want that Pottery Barn and hotel feeling, ya know?
Do you see how there's texture and fluff and quilts and duvets and throws and cream and print and big and small and... it's just one big ol' pile o' pretty and I want to sleep in something that! Anyhoo, I digress...
The top two pillows in the WW picture (cream netting and navy/cream rosettes) were purchased from The Village Thrift Store for $1.99 each. The navy chevron pillow (lower right) was purchased from Target on clearance for a few bucks (like $4, I believe). Oh, and that little framed shell was a souvenir from Mike's vacation to Hawaii this past January. I've got other decor pieces to pull it together and, get this, Target's preppy beach collection is back! You know I'm hype, right?! Unlike last year, I will DEFINITELY purchase the pieces I love before it's too late!
Moral of the guest room update? Progress is happening and I'm happy about it. I just need to get the bed. Once I have a bed, I'll be in business!

TBT - RLCC's Annual Sidewalk Sale
Howdy, Islanders!
In honor of Throwback Thursdays, I'm sharing photos from my church's Spring Sidewalk Sale from last year.
Why, you ask? Well, it's time for the Spring Sidewalk Sale again and I would LOVE for you to come shop. This year's funds will support our church's awesome Vacation Bible School (VBS)!
Wait. Did you just ask, "what's VBS?"
It's just an awesome week of fun for kids. They have a lessons, crafts, games, dinner, songs and more! Some of my greatest childhood summer memories are attending (... and later on teaching) at my church's VBS; the songs are programmed in my mind for the rest of my life. It's a great opportunity for kids and parents (what parent doesn't need a break during summer evenings?). Most importantly, to broaden attendance, it's a FREE event for all! Some children can't afford summer camp and VBS is what they look forward to all summer.
If you're in the area and love a sale, we hope to see you there!

Little Ladies' Book Club
Howdy, Islanders!
Yesterday's Maya Mondays post was dedicated to establishing the habit of reading in a child. Remember the Little Ladies' Book Club we started last month (more here)? Well, guess who hosted the April meeting at her place?
Yep. This chick.
We picked names from a hat to finalize the meeting location order and whoever's name was chosen to host the meeting also chose the book to read. Munchface was up second. She chose a Third Grade Detectives book.

Orijen Pet Food - A Product Review
Howdy, Islanders.
You know we got a new furry member of our family, Nuke.
That photo was taken during our first meeting but OMG! I don't think I ever shared the adoption photo from the rescue's website.
Yes, I believe Nuke is smiling in the picture too, lol. You can probably see in the photo that Hubbs is super excited about Nuke joining our family. He has obsessively researched for everything Nuke would need.

Easter - Bravo or Bust?
Hey, Islanders.
Yea, you've probably sensed it. I'm sick. Well, not sick-sick anymore but sick nonetheless (when you say it twice, it really matters. No, for real for real!!). I had an awful episode on Friday then stomach issues and migraines popped up most of Saturday. I wasn't myself. I was, however, pumped for Easter (before the disastrous sickness).
Saturday, I didn't clean. I didn't Easter prep. I tried to go to buy food to cook for Easter dinner. My body protested saying, "uh uh no way!" Munch also fell ill mid-day. UGH! My plans to pickup Olivia? Didn't happen. My plans to cook the night before? Yea right. I. Was. Down... for the ENTIRE count. For real for real. Yes, said twice and italicized for emphasis.

A Fun- and Fellowship-filled Time
Hi, Islanders!
This past weekend was epic. We were busy but rested, out-n-about but accomplishing home tasks; I'm confused just thinking about it!!

Friday, the youth ministry hosted an Ignite (glow party) worship. I really liked some of the cool shots I was able to capture with my iPhone.
We invited area churches and had a guest preacher bring an age-appropriate message for our youth. Matt, the Youth Pastor from Hope Presbyterian, was awesome!
