Yesterday, I shared the news of becoming the world's greatest in the whole universe an aunt. I also shared the news that we found out what we were expecting at a gender reveal this past weekend. Today, I'm sharing the deets of the event AND the gender of the baby. Get excited!
Ryan has chosen a rustic safari theme for the nursery and carried that theme throughout the BaBy Q Gender Reveal.
You can see Munch placed the elephant we had made on the dining room buffet with her guess for the gender on it (a blue bow tie). The small jars on the right side of the table held everyone's gender guess. There was also a jar for name suggestions on the coffee table, a 'wear your guess' station to choose a blue bow tie or pink bow and seasonal floral arrangements throughout.
Ryan's mom made the sweets for the kitchen buffet:
Chocolate cupcakes, butter cupcakes in various colors, and a coconut cake were tempting us all! Her mom used toy safari animals and a mini pennant banner as a simple cake topper and it fit the theme perfectly!
The lights under the cake stand gave the entire area an ambient glow and made the sweets table a focal point in the kitchen. Guests made small talk and ate yummy BBQ but, really, we were just stalling until it was finally time to find out who we're expecting in October!!!
Everyone gathered in the family room. Mike and Ryan took their positions at the big box marked Blue or Pink and we all prepared for the big reveal. Mike and Ryan decided to find out the news at the same time as everyone else. When they opened the box, there was this split-second when only they knew:
Ryan squealed and jumped up and down then they both helped the balloons make their escape! Everyone was cheering with anticipation.
It's a boy! Yes, my brother did an 'I make boys' dance. There were mommy hugs.
Then the two hugged each other.
After their hug, Ryan had a moment and got a little choked up... I think everyone had that moment with her. They've waited a long time and prayed for quite a while for this blessing.
Mike lightened the mood with his 'I made a boy' dance.
They pulled the 'it's a boy' cake from the bottom of the box and snapped a quick photo before the party continued and everyone referred to the bump as a HE!
It was a great night with family and I'm so excited to meet my nephew this Fall!
P.S. here's the video if you want to feel the excitement as it happened:
Yayyyyy! Congrats, auntie! :)
