No Business Like Bow Business

I started this blog years ago with the intent of sharing tutorials for my crafts.  At the time, I was obsessed with making hair bows for a few reasons:

Hubbs bombed a photo of the baby headbands I mailed to a friend.

Whata Gwan?! The Wrap-Up.

Islanders,

Whata gwan!  Don't act like you don't know what it means, we've had a number of quick lessons (most recently here).

I'm really busy this week - celebrating Hubbs' birthday (May 27), Daddy's birthday (yesterday, May 28), preparing for the Minecraft birthday party this Saturday and recovering from the weekend's activities.

What activities, you ask?

Hubbs announced this past weekend would be full of cookouts; he wanted to welcome the warm weather with open arms and burnt hot dogs, lol.

Friday, we had a couples' night with friends Vick and Amber.  The guys played video games while the girls sipped wine in the kitchen.  DJ Amber had me wiggling to BeyoncĆ© well into the wee hours of the morning; it was a LOT of fun!

Saturday, I headed for a morning at the spa/salon (facial, waxing, mani/pedi) while Munch went to the pool with her BFF, Jada.  We both got home and got pretty for a cookout in Maryland at one of my Dad's close friend's homes.

The Game Area Update

OMG!  I *totally* have a cute story.  To start, have I told you how much I LOVE hearing from my readers? Well, I do!  I'm so shocked to learn that people read my blog… I mean, people I know.  Like, the ones I see in my real life.  Yea, those people... it's an amazing feeling.

Back to the story… Mommy texted me the other day to say,

"Isn't it a small world that I have a fat bird sitting in her little room… what a co-winky dink?"

This was in reference to my post about Munchface's new artwork in her room (here).  The text was accompanied by this cute picture:

I love the flower iPod radio, the garden basket and cute little trunk… O and yes, I love her fat yellow bird too.

After I jumped off the rocket that took me to the moon to scream with excitement that someone reads my blog, I rolled my eyes.  MY old room was introduced to me as my MOM'S mom cave and, over time, the truth has come out - it's really for the kid.

Who Wants a Bland Cork Board? Not us!

This past Monday, I shared a pic of this ugly little fella:

In that post, I told you of my plans to hang it in Munch's homework nook for pictures and papers.  Yesterday, I shared pics of the finished product.  Well, here's how I did it.

Big Girl Room [New] Artwork

Whata gwan?

That's Islander speak for, "what's going on?"

Pronounced: whut-ah-gwon?

Yep, bet you didn't think you'd get a lesson today, huh?!

Well, I know I shared a tutorial yesterday but not today. I just want to show the artwork progress in the Big Girl room.

I found a fabulous canvas in Hobby Lobby.  They were having a sale so I got it for $25 (that's 50% off)!!

It had all of the colors I wanted (shades of turquoise, pink and yellow) AND it was a fun print that could grow with Munchface or transition into another room (mom cave, helloooo!!).

Painting a Table - The Easy Way

Happy Mama-Made Monday!

I've been talking about Munch's big girl room here-and-there for quite some time.  I finally feel like her room is at a "done" point.  Remember, her room is large (the auxiliary room over the two-car garage).  I originally thought it was perfect and that we would NEVER crap-ify it.  I quickly learned, however, I have a little person who has knack for accumulating and spreading her crap about any room.  Size doesn't matter; she can make any room feel small, lol.

Anyhoo, remember how I devised my plan and created my wish list?

Hey, Islanders!!

I've mentioned wanting to get back to living a REAL life by sharing pictures on a life-speed basis over the weekend.

Today, we celebrated Darren's college graduation with a cookout.  I picked up the cake.

Sofia the First Party Wrap-Up

It's Throwback Thursday!!

My Munch used to love to happy squeal!

In celebration of the weekly holiday around social media, let's talk about a pretty little FIRST birthday party, shall we?

The party went off without a hitch on May 3.  You may recall that my rustic wedding was scheduled for the following day so I had a crazy-busy weekend ahead of me.  Friday, I picked up the cake and headed over to Jasmine's and Tony's home to wrap-up some minor projects like rolling silverware, dropping off additional supplies and confirming Jasmine had everything for the big day.  I left really late and headed home to get settled, to pack for the rustic wedding (I had to leave for the wedding from the party) and to squeeze in some sleep.

PARTY DAY

Jasmine and I arrived and we unloaded our cars.  She started to blow-up the balloons and set-up for her arch.

What?! Yes, she did it by herself.  Don't give me that look.

Now, I told ya'll that I don't do balloons.  I mean, I liked the idea but, because they aren't my thing and they weren't in my plan (here), I wasn't going to spend my time on that party element.  We had two hours.  I had a LOT to do.

First up? The royal table.

Weekend Wrap-Up

I didn't want to come into the office today.  I've been in training and away for over a week but, after my weekend, I was just exhausted.

What'd I do, you ask?

Friday, I crafted our Spring wreath. Yep, finally.  It's done.

Don't worry, I plan to share the tutorial this week so get excited!

Saturday, I met with my June 21st bride.  She's a hoot!  Lots of fun and energy and... well, decisions.

One of which is the veil.  I posted a funny video of the back-and-forth on Instagram and it was really just to give some insight into my life as a wedding planner, lol.

Guest Room #2 Update

I survived a beautiful event-filled weekend.  Stay tuned for updates later this week.  Right now, I have to finally share something that's been driving me crazy these past few weeks.
Ok, so.  Remember my guest room #2 plan?  The one where I shared the color combo and design concept (here)?  Yea... well, weeks ago, I got a phone call that changed my life from Sheena.  She was in Target and called to tell me Carol's Daughter was OFFICIALLY sold at Target.
I was just at Target the day before... looking for hair stuff... so, I know my location did not have it before that day.  Armed with the news, I felt like I was a member of a secret society so I hurried to my Target (we were out of our Black Vanilla spray anyway).  She was right AND the products were cheaper in Target ($2.00 less) - say whaaaaat?!
Hmm, if Carol's Daughter was snuck into the building while I slept my night away, I wondered what else Target put out without my knowledge.  You guessed it! I had to stroll the ENTIRE store - every aisle, every department every-- what the?! Something caught my eye from afar:

A Weekend I PLANNED For

Happy Friday, Islanders!

I've been so busy this week preparing for this weekend's festivities.  First, I purchased the last-minute supplies for the Sofia the First birthday party (inspiration board here)to include:

- Amulet favor necklaces (I bought pretty purple gems for a DIY version but it would've been more labor and more money to execute):

- The crayons were really cheap and will be perfect for the coloring sheets (sheets were a FREE online printable):

- The tissue paper poms for the photo chandeliers are ready to go!

Tonight, I'm going to take my newest drink dispenser (from the thrift store for $7!!!) over to the party mom's home:

TBT: REAL LOVE.

I interrupt our Spring Cleaning posts to share a Throwback Thursday (TBT) photo of my parents.

Isn't it lovely?  Well, today marks 32 years since they exchanged vows at my grandparents' home in Columbus, GA.  That's right.  I grew up in a home with two people who were REAL.

*taps mic* Does this thing even work anymore?  Can you hear me in the back? So, the last we spoke, I was sharing a random find.  If...
