Artwork That Sets The Tone

As soon as the craft room walls were painted, I wanted to hang artwork.  While moving craft room junk around to make room for the painting project, I pulled out three of my favorite pieces passed down from my mommy's collection.  They're black and white and set a fabulous tone for the rest of the room:

Munch always claims that she is the little girl playing the piano and I'm the woman in the white dress, lol.  She loves to say the "boys are Daddy and [her] little brother."  No, she doesn't have a little brother so don't even go there with me, Islanders.  I'm just glad that she loves the paintings like I do.  My favorite part of this art series is that this painting:

... hangs in the backdrop of this painting:

Cool, right?  My mom attended an artwork party where a vendor presented amazing pieces and allowed buyers to customize their canvas style and framing options.  She also explained how to care for the pieces so they last a lifetime.  I remember attending with my mom and helping her decide on frames and such.  It was at the party that I was allowed to choose my first REAL piece of artwork (it's a father-son painting with the two of them napping under a tree).  It's beautiful.  I love it and, thinking back, my piece was a couple hundred dollars... I've kept it all these years (15+) but I can only imagine how much this set cost my mom (must be why she wasn't willing to part with it for quite some time).  Anyhoo, I have loved these paintings for years and, when my mom decided I could finally have them, I wasn't going to refuse... I just needed to find the perfect space for them.  They're primarily black-and-white.  They have a beautiful linen and gold wooden frame and I am excited for the elegant tone they've already set for this space:

They are really fabulous on the wall.  The kind of fab that photos don't do justice.  Mom advised this room looks like it will be more than the typical craft room; it's becoming a STUDY or elegant office.  Sheena says these paintings set the tone and make the wish-list chandelier a MUST-have for the space.  It was hilarious when we spoke about it.  Sheena and I named the over-the-top light fixture CHANDELIER CHAND-A-LAY.  Now, whenever something is fabulous or over-the-top, we call it CHANDELIER CHAND-A-LAY, honey!

That chick, I tellya, she is a trip!

Speaking of fabulous.  It's the end of the work week!  I have a wedding this weekend and I'm sure it will be CHANDELIER CHAND-A-LAY!!  I hope your weekend is awesome!

  9. Hello Ashley where did you find the paint?

  10. I saw these at Roscoe Chicken and Waffles in Hollywood today.
They looked like high quality canvas prints, not originals.
    Gorgeous pieces.
I am not convinced that the name "rhapsody of love" is authentic.

  11. I have the middle painting, they are beautiful. I purchased the piece at a party but don't know much about it. It is signed by 'park', sold by Personal Preference. It is a lithograph on canvas, not an original. I have the same frame. I am trying to sell and found someone who recently sold the same piece. I have seen the selling price recently so have an approximate value, but before I sell, I would like more information to offer the potential buyer. Please let me know if you have any further info.
This is listing me as unknown, my name is Tracy. Thank you!

  16. Hello! I just purchased a piece by this amazing artist today! It is signed Park with the numbers 115/1950 below the signature. I believe it is an artist enhanced lithograph. Beautiful woman sitting at the piano with one hand on the keys. Just fabulous! I am not sure if I will keep or sell the piece but was intrigued by your post and the pics of Parks other works.
    Warmly,

    1. Hi Lisa.Fluker@gmail.com,

I am very interested in finding out the name of the painting with the father and son playing the trumpets. Is it possible for you to check the back of your painting and seeing if it reveals the name. The painting with the mother and daughter is called the Rhapsody of Love by Park. If I can locate one for sale I will send the information your way. Thanks Q

    1. The thing is these pictures are hard to come by because people that have them don't sell them. I have several Personal Preference and I am sorry to say I have lost a lot of them due to a fire, so a cherish the ones that I have left. I look high and low to find them. Hold on to the ones that you have and pass them on to someone that you know will cherish them because they will certainly be worth something because they are rare and beautiful.
